Hello! In this episode I stay local. I paint the scene using gradients and I have a wandering caterpillar to deal with.
I do all this while holding a camera above my head! I hope this video inspires you to sketch and paint outdoors. If you would like to support the making of these videos please visit my Patreon page, there you can follow my weekly vlog, see bonus material, and even receive original watercolours. www.patreon.com/meldrumart
I am very happy to have this watercolour showing at the ECWS exhibition in Haapsalu, Estonia. Thank you Nordic Watercolour Society ( Nordiska Akvarellsällskapet ) for asking me to participate. 🙂 The exhibition is until the end of August 2019.
I had an amazing week staying mainly in the town of Calella but I also visited, Pals, Cadaqués and Girona. Here are my watercolours from the trip. The great thing about painting outdoors for a week it that you gain such a connection with the landscape you are in. A photograph is only ever an image.
My name is David Meldrum, I love painting watercolours. Another passion I have is life drawing, I run a class called Meldrum Kroki. I was born in Ireland but since 1990 I have lived in Stockholm, Sweden.
