Lunch Sketch #5

I started this yesterday but was unable to complete due to my work getting in the way. I have to consider this as a failure in one respect, namely that it does not resemble the singer! But that’s life, I’ll do it better next time.

Morrissey? (Not really.)

Lunch Sketch #4

I must admit, it is hard to finish a sketch during ones lunch break; today it was complete sometime between – afterwork and the evening meal. The sketch took one and a half hours to complete, I am learning a lot by my mistakes and there were plenty!

Lunch Sketch #3

I started this yesterday but then I got interrupted by work so I ended up finishing it today. It’s not perfect but I’m happy enough with it. The purpose of these lunch time sketches it to get myself out of a bad habit, I want to stop just mindlessly surfing my lunchtimes away. Who knows, I might even improve my drawing skills too!

Alvaro Castagnet Water colourist with Spanish flare.

I found Alvaro’s technique very compelling when I stumbled upon it yesterday on YouTube. He has boundless self-confidence which is probably the most important lesson of all when learning to paint: to be daring and not being scared to make mistakes.

Lunch sketch number two

It may not be the best caricature I have ever drawn but I am happy to be sketching with my new mini-water-colouring set, a ‘Field Box’ from Winsor & Newton.

Search engine for art lovers

http://www.wikipaintings.org

I stumbled apon this site the other day called Wikipainting. It needs to feature more artists to succeed but it does have potential. I enjoyed looking at the Alphonse Mucha and Egon Schiele pages; make sure you click on the , ‘All artworks’ tab to see of the complete archive of the artist.

Rockin’ JellyBean

http://www.rockinjellybean.com

I know this is politicly incorrect,
but I like it!
Rockin’ JellyBean who lives in Japan (I think) is known for wearing Mexican wrestling masks and having a babe on each arm. He also has a Surf-Rock band called Jackie and the Cedrics.
