It’s episode number 14 and this time I am in Ploubazlanec in Brittany, France. My wife grew up here and I am lucky enough to visit this magical place once a year. I always find it inspiring. While my wife spends time with her wonderful Mum I walk around Ploubazlanec and neighbouring Paimpol looking for something to paint. I have a lot of time to myself but I also find time to be social plus enjoying the local food and the great hospitality. I hope you enjoy the video, comments are always appreciated.
Here is my latest demonstration video on YouTube. I spent a whole month sailing around the Finnish and Åland archipelagos with my wife and two close friends. I spent lots of time sketching and taking reference photos for future use. While on the island of Ekskär in the Finnish archipelago I managed to do a demonstration painting which is featured here. The day was incredibly warm and the windbreaker I had behind me made it super hot because it stopped any breeze reaching me at all. It did protect me from the harmful sun rays though. The painting was a real challenge in the end, I could not get into a comfortable position, I was sitting which I now realise isn’t ideal for doing demonstration paintings. Ah well, lesson learned – next time I will stand which will make filming so much easier. I hope you enjoy the video, I am happy with it even if I seem to be moaning at bit. Ignore me and watch it, let me know what you think. Cheers, David
I am happy to publish my latest watercolour demonstration. I have been frustrated by how long it has been taking me to produce this videos but now I think I’ve found a format that works. By works I mean that they are easier to film and produce. I hope you find this demonstration both inspiring and educational. If everything goes to plan I will be producing these videos more often in future. We are sailing north of Sicily at the moment, this video was filmed in Salina, one of the seven Aeolian Islands.
Check out my latest YouTube video, In this episode I’m in Hiroshima, Japan. I feel that I am slowly getting more skilled at editing film, I hope you agree but please do send me feedback – be it good or bad.
Also, please subscribe to my YouTube channel if you would like to see future episodes of Meldrum Art – Watercolour Journeys.
It was a little easier to produce this time around. It’s fun even if it does rack up the hours. I reckon it will take up 40 – 50% of my time in the future. That means I will have about the same amount of time for painting watercolour. My life drawing will have to take a lower priority.
It will be interesting in the coming months to see if I succeed at vlogging or not. I am learning so much these days when it comes to film editing, I do enjoy being challenged.
