  • Painting watercolours in the rain

A quick watercolour sketch from inside my boat.  It was raining, so it was nice to have a roof over my head. I had my mini palette with six colours.

  • Buffalo in Stockholm

About a month ago, I took myself to Hemmesta, a small town outside Stockholm. There is a rewilding project that I find very interesting. They are recreating wetland with the help of Buffaloes. I think the idea is fantastic. Wildlife is already establishing itself, lots and lots of birds.

I aim to paint here later, I’d say in September. Right now, my focus is the archipelago.

  • Painting at the museum once more

It was bad weather again yesterday. Actually, it was really, really windy. This was the first time I painted together with Annika Berglund, my new plein air painting buddy! We were at the Natural History Museum, one of my favourite haunts when the weather isn’t great.

  • The painting of Fanni Udde

    A new video, 6 minutes long. 🙂

  • A quick watercolour of the Vasa Museum

The museum is on Djurgården here in Stockholm. I think it’s a lovely composition with the building and the boats in front of it.

The Vasa Museum houses an almost fully intact 17th-century naval vessel, the 64 gun warship called Vasa . It sank on her maiden voyage in 1628.

  • Is it possible to paint plein air, indoors?

Yesterday, the weather was so bad in Stockholm. Wet and 13 degrees. I arranged with my friend Daniel Luther to meet at the Natural History Museum. We go there often during the winter, but this was the first time we visited during the summer. I painted a stuffed Woodland Kingfisher. I enjoyed myself. Oh yeah, it was the premiere for my new easel that I built just recently. I’ll talk more about that in the next post.

  • Painted while drinking coffee

I painted this little watercolour in a café called Tårtan (cake). I was with friends, they sketched too. I took the reference photo the summer before. The Stockholm archipelago.
