I can’t do a portrait every day

2018.12.13

I would love to just paint portraits everyday until I felt I had mastered them but there is always something that gets in the way. It’s not good to be so manic either, I can always try to be better at several things at the same time. My progress may not be as fast but at least I’ll be having more fun.

The model for this watercolour portrait was once again from Sktchy App.

I love this one. It conveys so much emotion. And the fine detail with the looser dry brush work – swoon! In an earlier post, you said you wish you could be more like Benjamin Björklund, but from what I saw, his paintings are much more aloof. They don’t offer the connection with the viewer that yours do.

Hi Adrianne,
Thank you for your kind words. I think Benjamin Björklund has something I do not. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s the way his work is often incomplete which appeals to me. I find I am very literal and I am trying hard to change my perspective. It’s funny how we humans are, I guess Benjamin is not always happy either 😉
