I did not feel like doing a lunch time sketch today so I watched my favourite art series by Simon Schama. This week it’s Picasso’s turn.
I am just starting to learn to paint and I find Sebastian kruger’s acrylic art a great inspiration.

I’ve started painting again after a break for 25 years!
Well, if I think about it I have never really learned to paint, and therefore have never actually really painted. I am older now and hopefully a little wiser, I can see that I have shyed away from painting because it was too difficult and that one actually has to make an effort to learn the skill, much like learning to play a musical instrument. It wasn’t within me, I did not have the desire, but now I do and I want to learn the art.
So, at the moment I am using water colours and I have used acrylics last weekend, both demand different skills and I am enjoying the challenge of learning to express myself in these mediums. I find Alvaro Castagnet’s confident style appealing, I like his fearless, cocky approach to painting in water colours.

I stumbled apon this site the other day called Wikipainting. It needs to feature more artists to succeed but it does have potential. I enjoyed looking at the Alphonse Mucha and Egon Schiele pages; make sure you click on the , ‘All artworks’ tab to see of the complete archive of the artist.

Rockin’ JellyBean who lives in Japan (I think) is known for wearing Mexican wrestling masks and having a babe on each arm. He also has a Surf-Rock band called Jackie and the Cedrics.

Audrey Kawasaki’s work is both Manga and Art Nouveau inspired, her technical skills are top-class. I find the work both erotic and innocent, the fact that a lot of the paintings are directly on wood add a lot of warmth to the compositions.
