Sketch Watercolour

Fantastic to be sailing again.

I haven’t sailed all summer but now I am and it’s wonderful. The holiday season is over so the archipelago is quite empty of boats. No motor boats just a few sailing boats and most of them seem to be visiting from Europe. So it’s very peaceful. We have bought a new boat, not new exactly – it was built in 1975. So we are getting to know how everything works. Next week my wife returns to work but I intend to continue sailing as much of September I can. I want to sketch, paint and take reference photos. It’s going to be an experience.

This watercolour sketch was painted at our first stop on the trip, Gällnö is the name of the island, we stayed for a day then moved on.

Longing for the summer

I painted this watercolour in the beginning of November last year. I never took a decent picture of it as it was so dark back then and I was in rush to get it framed for the exhibition I had in early December. It was sold and I miss it really, I didn’t have time to enjoy it. They are like little children, very dear to the heart at least the ones that shine. I’ll just have to paint a replacement so I can forget it, larger maybe this time.
The watercolour was painted after my course with Chien Chung-Wei, it shows I think, my brushwork is more daring and the composition is well thought through.

Dark period

Last week it was a bad reaction to what I ate, this week I have totally got the flu and seem to spend most of my days sleeping. Yesterday, I managed three small watercolours. I have an exhibition in the Old Town here in Stockholm starting on the 3rd of December so I thought I’d better get a move on. The paintings are rather dark, the days are getting shorter here, the sky is a numbing grey and I don’t feel so good.

Some time for improvements

I wasn’t happy with the sky so I made it a bit more cloudy.  This was also part of my busy first day with my new artist schedule.
