Watercolour portraits

One of my many New Year Resolutions was to improve my figures in my watercolour paintings. We all basically always look at the head first and so it’s not very good if the face feels amateurish. This is why I am going to portrait classes every Tuesday now, I wan’t to improve and I don’t want my paintings to look amateurish!!!!!!! 🙂

These watercolours are about A5 in size.

1- It is clear the intention to work on the details
2- The face color is very well tempered
3- But the most obvious is the detail for the eyes – with a light in the pupil, detail worthy of a Flemish teacher
4- The third figure is the most alive and the most “watercolor”!
5- Congratulations! You are on a well-chosen road

Thank you for your kind comments Victor.
I feel I have a long way to go before I feel comfortable doing portraits. The only way to conquer this is to practice and at least I am doing this. Painting with a live model is so much better than copying from an image on the screen.
Cheers,
David
PS. I agree, number 3 is best 🙂
