National Watercolour Exhibition – Edsvik

I was very happy to have one of my paintings excepted into the annual National Watercolour Exhibition at the Edsvik Art Gallery. The watercolour is entitled, Västan – which is the name of the Stockholm ferry featured.

It’s interesting for me as this watercolour is two years old and as I am still developing as an artist it is very much from my past. It has a strong composition which is good but my technical skills have improved a lot since 2017. Another interesting fact is that this painting was exhibited at The Salamanca ECWS exhibition of 2017. I was so proud that I was chosen to represent Sweden in this European watercolour event.

Storskär

One of the really beautiful things about the Stockholm archipelago is the numerous old ferries that are still in service. Most of which are over 100 years old. Storskär is one of my favorites. It is owned by Waxholms bolaget. I don’t think I could ever tire of painting these beautiful boats.

The morning painting

This week I have introduced a tough working schedule to my artist week. I’ve been frustrated that I am just not producing enough work. Unfortunately my plans burst after only one day as I became ill, I’m incredibly sensitive to what I eat , it was either broccoli or balsamic vinegar that did it. My body can’t cope with many types of sugars since I passed midlife.

Anyway, the plan is for me to follow a ridget schedule and it worked yesterday so I’m really happy about that. In the morning I spent two hours on a commission and then anther two hours on this painting that is featured here. It’s the ferry called Norrskär that has been in service since 1910.
